This dam also it is known him as the dam Yauco. This located
to the Southwest of Puerto Rico, like a seven miles to the
north of the town of Yauco. In order to arrive at the same
one highway PR-128 is followed from that town. The Lake is
formed by a concrete dam on Yauco River. Also it receives
waters from the dams of Guayo, Yahuecas, Prieto and Toro.
Its normal capacity of dam is of 14.780 acre-feet with a
surface of 266 acres at the overflowing level (570 feet on
the level of the sea). The pick up area is of single 17.3
miles square. It has little but of two miles in length and
one maximum depth of some 90 feet.

The concrete dam that forms this dam was constructed in the
1952, like an important link in the system of hydroelectric
generation and irrigation in the Valley of Lajas, known by
Project of the Southwest. The Puerto Rico Electric Power
Authority constructed all this system of lakes, tunnels and
channels and operates it normally. This dam of 178 feet of
structural height was constructed of solid concrete in the
1952 and forms essential part of the project of the
Southwest of Puerto Rico for hydroelectric generation and
irrigation of the Valley of Lajas.
