This dam is located in the South of Puerto Rico like two
miles to the north of the town of Juana Díaz. It is closely
together of highway PR-149, between Juana Díaz and Villalba.
The Lake is formed by the dam of concrete Ambursen type of
120 feet of height on Jacaguas River. It receives also
waters from the Toa Vaca Dam when it is necessary. Its
normal capacity of dam is of 3,927 acre feet with a surface
of 373 acres. Elevation of 341 has one foot on the level
from the sea to the top of its floodgates. It has around two
miles in length and 50 feet of maximum depth. Have a
drainage area of 42.95 miles square.

the Guayabal dam in the 1913. Due to the accelerated
sedimentation, in the 1952 it was necessary to elevate the
level of the dam in 15 feet to recover the lost capacity.
The water of this dam is used mainly for the irrigation
system of the Southeastern. The Juana Díaz channel, which
leaves from the Dam, provides water to 14,000 acres with
earth. |
