ADJUNTAS DAM

 
LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION


This dam medium height derives waters of the high part of the Great Rio of Arecibo towards the Pellejas dam. It only dams water during the periods of substantial swelling of the river that exceeds the capacity of the derivation tunnel. It is located near Highway PR-10 between Adjuntas and Utuado, like five miles of Associates. During periods of great rains a dam of 384 forms acre capacity feet. The dam has a structural height of 80 feet to derive rains from a drainage area up of 14.7 miles square.

 

USE AND HISTORY


The massive concrete dam was finished constructing in the 1950 like part of the hydroelectric system of Caonillas. Acre can provide an average with 41.385 annual feet of dam for hydro generation in Caonillas.
