LAS CURĶAS DAM

 

 

LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION


The dam this located to 4 miles of the South of San Juan in the Barrio Las Curķas and belongs to the Puerto Rico Sewer and Water Supply Authority. The lake forms a land dam of structural height of approximately 75 feet and 853 feet of length. It has an area of pick up of 1.10 miles square and normal capacity of 1,120 acre-feet.

 

USE AND HISTORY

The dam, medium in category was constructed in 1946 for the Municipality of San Juan and soon it was transferred to Puerto Rico Sewer and Water Supply Authority. Their waters were used for the consumption of the Metropolitan Area.
