COMERÍO I & II DAMS

 

LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION


These two concrete dams are located one after the other near Highway PR-167, two miles of the town of Comerío. The dam Comerío II this located as to thousand meters waters above of Comerío I and is much but great. Both reservoirs are the La Plata River. The Comerío I Dam have 47 feet of height and is of massive concrete. The dam Num. II is of the type of abutments of concrete and 128 feet of height. Due to the enormous sedimentation and general deterioration, the dam and dams Comerío I does not have any use and are very little the possibilities of its rehabilitation. This dam, next to its equipment and structures satellite was constructed in 1907.

 

USE AND HISTORY

The Comerío II dam was completed in the 1913 and designed to dam 4,925 acre feet of water to be used in the hydroelectric generation in the system of Comerío. The sedimentation has reduced the dam capacity.
