Ajíes Dam (Structure 2A)

 
LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION


This structure is located approximately to one mile to the north of the town of Añasco, in front of Highway PR-402. The water that is stored in this dam comes from broken Ajies.  Its area of pick up is of 0.23 miles square. The À structure is formed by a dam (dock) of land of 50 feet of stop. The maximum capacity of storage of the dam is of 95 acre-feet. The dock has a pipe of exit (unloading) of 18"of diameter, as a drain of emergency (to help) located in the right stirrup of the dam.

 

USE AND HISTORY


This dam was designed and constructed by the USDA Service of Ground Conservation of the Department of Federal Agriculture in 1984 for the Department of Natural Resources of Puerto Rico. The dam is for floods control.
